Lviv Urban Forum

The UN4UkrainianCities project is participating in the 2nd Lviv Urban Forum, a platform for dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders in the preservation and restoration of Ukrainian cities. This event brings together mayors, architects, businesses, residents, and representatives from the government, academia, and civil society to discuss the challenges and opportunities in rebuilding Ukraine's urban landscapes.

The forum emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility and creating opportunities, even with limited budgets, to ensure a quality of life for communities affected by the war. Participants will explore innovative mechanisms for housing reconstruction, social care systems, and the preservation of historical heritage. The UN4UkrainianCities project looks forward to contributing to the discussions on urban planning policy, legislation, and the tools and resources available for qualitative transformations in cities, ultimately shaping a more sustainable and resilient future for Ukraine.

Additionally, the UN4UkrainianCities Project’s partner, IWO e.V., will contribute to the Affordable Housing Section at the  LUF. Their project 'Municipal housing in Kharkiv: affordable rental models for housing recovery in Ukraine,' supports a panel discussion on municipal housing and policy as part of the session ‘Combining Development with Social Resilience’ on 28 June. Moderated by IWO project expert Pavlo Fedoriv, this section will feature both foreign and Ukrainian experts presenting sustainable European models of affordable housing and discussing their applicability for housing recovery in Ukraine.
